I got a Note 10 Plus from my dad but the Spen won't connect and I'm thinking that the pen isn't the original one. How do I know if it's a genuine spen?

It’s kinda hard to tell if it doesn’t work since replicas look identical to the original one.  I would suggest purchasing one from a well known store.

Or maybe, considering the Note 10 Plus has not had a security update in over 2 years, and any Android system updates in over 3 years, maybe it's nearing its end of life and that could be the problem?

This phone still works as it was new and some people can't afford new phones.

No, it doesn't work is new because the S Pen doesn't work. So is it an S-Pen problem, or is it a phone problem? My original answer still holds, the phone is so outdated that it's probably starting to lose functionality.

I've had note 10 plus 5g for 4 years and have gone through 4 s pens ... they almost need replacing yearly... new ones are 12 quid from ebay and have Bluetooth.. and hey you can even choose the colour.. my original was black but I got nice blue one.  Also buy large pipe cleaner and brush down the pen slot. I wrap mine in a alcolic wipe with tape at the bottom

Also I found they last a bit longer to if you just leave air actions on... I think if you keep it charged to stimulate that capacitor inside the s pen less likely to die. Just my expereience
