I have a settings question... This has been a back and forth thing for me. I used to be able to have my Secure Folder password protected without having to have any kind of Lock Screen Security. Get a new device, now I need Lock Screen security. My last two devices, I've been able to have my Secure Folder password protected without Lock Screen Wecurity. Just got the Fold 7 and now I need Lock Screen security again. How can I go back to just have it password protected without Lock Screen Security? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Fold & Flip Phoneswhy are we the consumer being forced to lock phone to use the secure folder. if the phone is locked then we don't need the secure folder app. Samsung might as well just remove it.

Fold & Flip PhonesSamsung does need to fix this...I do not like lock screens...I use secure folders for different reasoning...bring it back to old ways to where just the secure folder had a password option

Fold & Flip PhonesWell, consider this. If your phone is unlocked and it gets lost or stolen, you may think your stuff is secure because it's in your secure folder, but bad actors will still have access to your Samsung and Google accounts by virtue of the fact that you are logged into both accounts on your phone. They then have access to your contacts, your Gmail, any payment methods, and personal information you have stored in those accounts and can also completely lock you out of them.
When they decided, several years ago, that one needed to put a security pin on their watches to use Samsung Pay (instead of just putting a pin on the Pay app as had been in the past), people were incensed at having to unlock their watches every morning. They didn't change it back then, and they likely will not change it back now. I believe (but don't know for sure), that this change was made because the secure folder now no longer automatically locks upon exiting the folder, but will time out when the screen turns off.

Fold & Flip PhonesAnd the lock screen is a great option for those who are worried about that. I on the other hand am NOT worried about it. I specifically have not setup Samsung pay and other features because it required a lock screen. I'll give up the secure folder if I have to, because I AM NOT typing in this pin 400 times a day.

Fold & Flip PhonesYou do not have the type the pin 400 times a day. Put on extend lock, either through the security settings or through a routine. Use your trusted wi-fi networks (or watch if you have one) as a trigger to keep the phone unlocked. You can add a fingerprint, if you want. With extend unlock, your phone stays unlocked for up to 4 hours, and when it locks, you can unlock with a fingerprint (if you have one), or your pin. it's your choice whether to give up the secure folder or not, you are not forced to use it. Personally never saw a need for it myself, my financial apps are already secure, and *if* I were to have private photos, they would be relegated to a flash drive and not situated on my phone. Notes can be password protected.

Fold & Flip PhonesThe secure folder lets you duplicate apps, which means I can have two copies of a security camera app, one for my house, one for my parents. You cannot load 2 copies of an app on your phone without this folder. Having to set a pin on the whole phone just to use this feature is ridiculous
