Secure Folder requires lock screen protection in order to access feature

I have a settings question... This has been a back and forth thing for me. I used to be able to have my Secure Folder password protected without having to have any kind of Lock Screen Security. Get a new device, now I need Lock Screen security. My last two devices, I've been able to have my Secure Folder password protected without Lock Screen Wecurity. Just got the Fold 7 and now I need Lock Screen security again. How can I go back to just have it password protected without Lock Screen Security? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Look at it this way, with a PIN on your phone, you don't really need the secure folder.

No, that defeats the purpose. It's bothersome to enter a password every time I want to use my phone. Change this back.

You don't have to enter a password every time if you use extend unlock.  You set a fingerprint and you can unlock it with that and you only have to enter your pin after a restart or 72 hours.

Why are you being so obtuse and unhelpful? It's like it's your job to push this on people and accept it instead of seeing it the way the customer sees it. I don't want to unlock my phone, I want it to Simply Be swiped open. And if I have something to lock up I'll put it inside of my secure folder, and I'll only ever have to unlock it when I want to access those specific things. But I do not want to lock on my lock screen.

But you're secure folder isn't something you should need to lock your whole phone for if you have to enter a PIN to get into it anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️
