Gallery app not compatible w/ Galaxy A25 5G. Why?

I've seen many users comment on the Gallery app not compatible message. I see it too on my Galaxy A25 5G. App seems to work fine, but why the message I wonder?

Galaxy Note20 also says it is not compatible anymore but seems to work fine. What are we supposed to use instead?

My current understanding is that it has something to do with Google and their rules rather than the app itself, so just ignore the message and continue using the app.
