I am using an A53 on T-Mobile and everything was working OK until the day before yesterday when the Android 16 / One UI 8 update was applied, now my phone is saying the SIM card is no longer recognized.  I went into the carrier local office and they swapped out the SIM with a new one, same issue. They then took that SIM into an different phone and it worked, this is clearly an issue introduced with the update. Going through the message boards it is easy to find other instances of the same issue occurring on other Samsung phones.

While not a brick, the phone is useless right now, is there anything that I can do to get this phone working again?

So what was done? Was software reinstalled on the phone? What version One UI is the phone running?

What exactly did the technician do (reinstalled software, downgraded software or)? Do reply..thanks

Thank you - any chance you know what he did that worked? I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G. And after the phone went through One UI 8.0 update, my T-mobile (Mint) no longer works.  Mint customer service can't help me either.

Not just T-Mobile. I have Verizon and have the same problem on a Samsung S21 fe

I had the same problem but am on 3. 

My sim works fine in another phone. 

Trying to get hold of Samsung is a nightmare.

It s clearly not a hardware issue as everything worked fine before the update this week and now the phone won't recognise a SIM and you can't even put it in Airplane mode and all the network related settings are greyed out.

I just did.  It took a factory reset to get it working again. I had to set up my apps, and sign into various accounts but this is much better than having to buy another phone. 

You will see that some people said the Factory Reset does not work - but it worked for my case.

I've got the exact same problem, still no solution or patch. Search the forum for a53 and the first results are all about this exact problem.
