External Mic issue after Android 16 update on Galaxy A15

After the Android 16 update on my Galaxy A15 (AT&T version), my main mic stopped working completely. Before the update everything was fine. I figured it mightโ€™ve been a software glitch, so I did a full factory reset from recovery, updated to the newest security patch, and made sure all apps have mic access. Still nothing.

I ran the Samsung Members diagnostic test and it shows:
First mic: issues detected
Second mic: normal

So the secondary mic (top one) works, but the main mic (bottom one thatโ€™s used for calls and recordings) isnโ€™t picking up at all. Itโ€™s crazy because this only started right after Android 16, and the latest patch didnโ€™t fix it either.

If anyone from Samsung sees this, please pass it on to the software team. It feels like a driver issue, not hardware, since it happened right after the update.

Anyone else having the same problem?

It is possible that the issue is related to a software update, but it is also possible that this is a hardware related issue.

To fully diagnose the issue, you will likely need to visit a certified Samsung repair center.

It was literally working just fine before. It updated to Android 16 in September, and immediately after the update finished, I noticed I could no longer use my primary external mic. The only mic that works now is the secondary one, mainly for noise cancellation.

Following up for transparency. Samsung advised a physical inspection and did NOT evaluate the software. My Galaxy A15 functioned normally from March 2025 until the October 2025 update, after which the microphone began failing. The timing suggests a software regression.

My A15 did the update this morning and, yup, main mic stopped working. I was using the mic successfully when I was prompted to do the One UI update minutes earlier. Same experience as you.

No service places anywhere near me. May try following instructions I've googled for rolling back to One UI 7 using a PC and see what happens. I'll report back after I get a chance to try it.

Iโ€™m relieved Iโ€™m not the only one dealing with this, though I hate that youโ€™re going through it too. Samsung keeps acting like it isnโ€™t a software issue and thatโ€™s frustrating. Definitely keep me posted and let me know how it turns out for you.

Having the same problem with my samsung M15, after update primary mic no longer works only secondary mic.so i no longer able to do whatsapp voice notes and voice recording with calls also and the phone is 2 days old.Samsung has to look on the latest software update that there is a bug that blocks the primary mics and its not te hardware issues. Its the software issues as this happened after an software update. Even if i reset the whole phone software primary Mic not working still
