Washers and DryersThey do make washing machine cleaners Do you get dirt residue after each load? You shouldn't unless you have abnormally dirty clothes, or there is something wrong with the washer. The drain cycle is made to flush all residue down the drain. You shouldn't have to run a clean cycle more than once a month - if that, I'd say more quarterly. I've had washers for years and never ran a clean cycle, or put in a cleaning tab - figuring they are normally self cleaning. Never had dirt residue left at the bottom of the drum.

Washers and DryersHello Ganderson329, it is recommended to perform routine maintenance on the washer when prompted by the digital display or after 20 washes on your top load model. It's also a good idea to run one at least once per month if you do not do many washes in a month. Is this the first time you've performed the self-cleaning on the washer? If not, how often is it being completed on the washer? After the self-cleaning/ maintenance is performed, and you're still noticing any residue or debris within the drum of the washer, you will need to repeat the self-cleaning cycle until it is clean and clear. You can review this article https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10003197/ to assist with maintenance of the washer as well.
