recents apps broken by update on Galaxy Tab s8 (show recent but NOT suggested apps)

About 24 hours ago I was told there was a mandatory update that would be installed at a time unless I did it now.

Since then the recent apps seems to have been changed to a "suggested apps" feature if I don't use the tablet for several hours.

For instance, I was playing "Fate: Grand Order" before going to sleep, but upon waking in the morning the recent apps was instead displaying the Marianos and Jewel apps, which I have not used since I went grocery shopping on Friday, and I don`t think I used them on the tablet, I would have used my phone and the computer.

How do i fix it so that the recent apps will still display FGO in the morning, or when I get home from work?

This is in addition to the obvious changes to the recent apps which combines it with the  frequently used apps buttons (or whatever that feature is called these days).

Just FYI, when you get the update notification, you have the choice to download and install it immediately, delay it (you get three delay attempts before the auto install) until the scheduled automatic install day/time or schedule it for a time convenient for you (not 6 months in the future, but a time where you can be present for the process and have time to handle any setup issues.)  The time they schedule it for is usually in the middle of the night, so that you wake up to an updated (hopefully issue free) phone.  If you get the notice and don't want to immediately install it because you are on your way out the door to go to work or run errands, manually schedule it for a time when you will be free to tinker.  You should likely schedule for within 3 days of the notice.  Once you schedule it manually, that time will take precedence over the automatic install time.

I'm aware. I delayed it until I went to bed, then had it update while I went to sleep since unlike my phone the tablet doesn't need to be online.

What annoys me is that the Jewel and Mariano's apps keep replacing my recent apps when I haven't used either since at least Friday, and I don't think I used them on my tablet. I even tried verifying that they are in deep sleep.

Try putting those apps to sleep or in deep sleep. I see no reason for apps you haven't opened or used to be in your recent apps list. I'm not sure if it works the same way on tablets, but you can lock an app in the recent apps list to prevent closure by tapping on the app icon on the top of the app window while it's open in the list. Doing that may keep your preferred app in the list, or at least easier to return to. Hitting close all will close everything but the locked app.

Also, if you have continue apps on other devices, if you used them on the phone or computer, that may be the issue. I can't say for sure, because I only have a phone and watch, which do not have that feature.

I figured out something .  If I hit "close all" "fate/grand order gets dropped from the lower right corner and usually either the Jewel or Mariano's app appears instead. I think this is some kind of sponsored thing, but I want to turn off suggestions and go back to my most recently used apps being there so I can reopen them. I might be using the wrong term, I am talking about the app icons in the lower right corner that used to only appear at the bottom center when I hit the button with the 3 vertical lines  (making sure I am not using the wrong words).

Oh, I see the settings are a bit different on tablets.  I don't know if there's a setting to change that.   I don't know if you have this setting on your tablet, but on the phone in the "task changer" area (accessed via the three line button), there's an option in the dot menu settings to toggle off "show recommended apps".

I Only see "contact us" . Also the Jewel app keeps showing up even though I put it in deep sleep and haven't used it.

If you don't see this when tapping the dot menu in the task changer, then I guess the settings are very different in the tablets.

Nope, only "contact us" appears when tapping the 3 dots. Worse, after hitting close all the recently used apps disappear in favor of others, usually Jewel or Mariano's.  I see no way to "locker pin an app either other than adding it to the navigation bar.

Can I revert the downgrade to the UI and uninstall the update? So it only shows apps I have recently used here?
