I'm a basic user. I don't see myself needing Odin mode. Yet every so often, through an unlucky combination of button presses, I'll send my phone into Odin mode. Mostly recently, I had been driving, and when I pulled my phone out of my pocket, voila - Odin mode. All I did was stick my phone in my pocket, and half an hour later, take it out. My concern is, through an unlucky combo of key presses, I could accidentally wipe my phone. Is there a way to disable Odin mode? Or at least change the keybindings so it's harder to enter? It can't be disabled. Hardware buttons to enter Odin can't be changed either. Odin is used to flash firmware/updates to your phone. If you accidentally end up in Odin mode again, just turn the phone off and back on. In your pocket, you're somehow pressing the power+volume up/down buttons (varies by device).
If you had your phone in your pocket without a case, that is likely why you get the unfortunate button combination press, although it would take some doing. Are your pants very tight? Keeping your phone in a case, not only protects it from drops, but makes the buttons slightly harder to be accidentally pressed in combination. I don't think you are likely to accidentally wipe your phone, even it if accidentally enters ODIN or recovery mode, since doing a factory reset requires, not only specifically scrolling down a menu list, it requires confirmation that this is what you want. Even if by that one chance in a billion of that combination of key presses happens, because of the automatic backups performed nightly, you will be able to restore 99% of your data. The only things not restored are what is not contained in the backup, namely items in your download or other self-created folders. So, it is wise to make sure anything important to you is backed up regularly. Not just because you may encounter a series of unfortunate button presses, but you also never know when your phone will fail, get lost or stolen, or run over by a car.
