I noticed another user already proposed this same request (Stay on lock screen after fingerprint unlock - Samsung Community) over a year ago, but the feature still hasn't been added. One UI is a system I really love, yet this function is extremely important for devices integrated with touch fingerprint recognition โ€“ like the Galaxy Z Fold7.
When I'm out and about holding the phone, the screen lights up and my finger often rests right on the fingerprint sensor. This causes the phone to unlock automatically and go straight to the home screen without me even noticing while walking. It would be much more convenient if the phone didn't directly enter the home screen after fingerprint authentication.
I'm re-submitting this request. Thank you!

Let me add a second usage scenario. When you place the phone on a table, sometimes you just want to double-tap the screen to wake it up and glance at the notification content. But right now, I have to unlock the phone to view the details. Using the fingerprint unlock takes me straight to the home screen, while all I want is to stay on the lock screen to check the notifications. Thatโ€™s why I end up having to pick up the phone, use face recognition to unlock it (without entering the home screen), check the notifications, and then put it back down again.
Please donโ€™t suggest the setting that allows viewing lock screen notifications without unlocking.

My final request is to add an option for fingerprint unlock: "Do not go to the home screen after unlocking", just like the face unlock feature. I hope One UI will keep getting better and more user-friendly. Thank you.

Keep your finger off the fingerprint scanner while holding the phone or use a different unlock method or a fingerprint from a finger that wouldn't touch the phone while holding it. The whole point of unlocking the phone is to get to the home screen. There's a reason a request like that hasn't been implemented.  If you are going to keep holding your phone by the screen, at least turn on accidental touch protection.  In my entire life, I have never accidentally hit the fingerprint scanner while holding or picking up my phone.

I'm putting forward functional suggestions for One UI, not asking you to tell me to keep my finger off the fingerprint scanner. This is not a problem-solving attitude at all. What's more, the fingerprint sensor on the Z Fold7 is exactly positioned where fingers naturally rest. Just because you havenโ€™t encountered this issue doesnโ€™t mean others havenโ€™t. Thank you for your reply.

@Jazys You can turn this off by changing the "Fingerprint always on" setting.

It is located in phone settings -> Security and privacy -> Screen lock and biometrics -> Fingerprints

Yes, I am aware of that option, but it does not resolve the issue I mentioned. I already have this option turned off, which means the phone wonโ€™t automatically detect touches and unlock itself when the screen is off. However, the problem Iโ€™m pointing out is that the phone automatically goes to the home screen right after fingerprint unlock. Thank you.

It seems like your request is less about the operation of the finger print sensor, more about how Notifications are shown on the lock screen.

I think Iโ€™ve made myself perfectly clear. I provided examples of two scenarios where this feature would significantly improve user convenience if implemented. This is a feature request post. If you are an official staff member, please take the time to read through my feedback in full as a user. Please do not deviate from the main point.

This is a user to user discussion area. I don't work for Samsung. Unlocking via finger print opens to the last app or screen you were using when the phone locked. You can create a routine and use phone unlock to trigger it.

No, you didn't make yourself perfectly clear, you expected people to go read the link to understand your want.

@Jazys wants you to click the link to find out what they are asking for. They want the same action that is optional on face unlock for Fingerprint, stay on lockscreen, you have to swipe up to go to lockscreen.

I guess they were too lazy to type out the whole request, they expected us to go read it first, comment second.1765773975261.jpg
