In chat settings in the Samsung Messaging app trying to enable chat and get a notification that says registration failed.

You mean for RCS? Your carrier is probably not supporting RCS on Samsung Messages. If you want RCS features, switch to Google Messages.

My carrier Is verizon and it does support RCS. RCS was working?And I switched over to google messaging , and when I switched back to samsung messaging , I get the error message registration failed.

Carriers no longer want to maintain RCS servers. With Google Messages, RCS messages are routed through Google's Jibe servers. Expect to see more carriers drop RCS support for Samsung Messages.

Good point. If this is what's happening, that would explain it. If Verizon is still supporting RCS on Samsung Messages, @dblittleton will have to register one app and uninstall or disable the other.
