Would  you rather they keep you informed or fix the problem?  Has it occurred to you that whatever is wrong with the servers is preventing them from putting up a status message?  Perhaps they don't know how long it's going to take to fix the issue, so they can't issue a realistic update.  It seems to me that  an onscreen message saying the servers are under maintenance is a reasonable notice that there is an issue and nothing is wrong with your TV.  This is only one of the reasons I refuse to give up my "dumb" TV.  Either use OTA channels while the servers are down or buy a ROKU or Fire Stick, or use apps on your phone for just such situations.

I would rather have both, but instead we have neither. At least they could have updated their status website, but it was showing everything working, which is clearly a lie. A whole lot of people needlessly reset their TVs not knowing the problem occurred from the Samsung side because we had no information. I did not get a server down error until after I reset. Additionally, Samsung inserting themselves between us and the ability to watch streaming apps not associated with them is a poor business decision.

There's a message on the screen. What more do you expect. At least it lets you know it's not your set itself to keep you from doing unnecessary resets. Are you afraid you will have to interact with your family if you can't watch TV? There are alternative methods to watch, as I have stated above.

I did not get that message. I had apps not opening, a message that there was a problem with my internet (some Curl 60 error), but nothing saying the server was down until after I reset.
