My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.
I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.
If I can't fix it, can I install a different app for
My Google storage is 94% full. Could that be connected?
Add me to the list. Galaxy S23. Mine is also closing as soon as I try to text after a software update earlier today 5-28-24. If I'm really fast, I can get 1 or 2 letters typed and hit send before it closes. The recipient does receive the message and I can receive messages. Can't find a way to uninstall or update the app because it's built in. Will use another app in the meantime rather than wipe a bunch of stuff that does no good in the end.
My last update is April 3, was texting earlier today. Now I'm having the same symptoms as everyone else here...would be nice if they said something....
The only work around I have found to send messages is to hit the compose button and then type your message. It doesn't seem to shut down that way. Still super annoying
yep, same workaround - compose manually by holding the icon to bring up "create"...super frustrating though and only discovered after deleting hundreds of old messages and updating.
