Messages app crashing

My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.

I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.

If I can't fix it, can I install a different app for

My Google storage is 94% full. Could that be connected?

The SAME EXACT problem with my S24-U today 5/28/25 in the afternoonish time. I could NOT send a reply to anyone, the Samsung SMS Massege App would crash within 2~3 sec. Cleared the cache, and reset the phn 20 times, and still NOT working. Using Google Massage for the time being.

I'm using galaxy s20 FE and have the same problem, soon as I start writing it crashes.

Gonna contact support when it opens. Looks like a wide spread problem, I'm from Sweden.

Another topic said to disable Google Meet - did this and Messages is now working again on my S21

Disable Google Meet. I read this in a related thread and it solved the problem on my S24 immediately.

I didnt have Google meet app installed. I have the ultra24

I just un-installed Google meet.... and my message app works now

I just disabled Google Meet and it worked as well.
