Messages app crashing

My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.

I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.

If I can't fix it, can I install a different app for

My Google storage is 94% full. Could that be connected?

Un-installed Google meet update in play store under manage apps and device. Then click manage tab at the top. then click uninstall update box next to Google meet. Messages is back to normal.

Using a S G Note for last 2yrs. Had no issues with Msging , until now!. Hopefully some one share a cure!

I have the same issue.

I noticed this happenes when I attempt to reply to a msg.

If I start a new message and send to the same person the app does not crash. This is a pain though and hope they fix it soon.

As above. Uninstalling or Disabeling Google Meet fixed thr problem.

Wow Samsung+Google. Google Meet update should in no way impact Messaging app... but yet it is, here we are. Love Android, but this is why people use Apple .

Uninstalling Google Meet worked for me. I posted this and a few others confirmed it worked.
