Is it possible to copy a photo from the Gallery and delete it but still remain in the folder?

Once you've copied a photo from the Gallery to a folder, are you then able to delete it from your Gallery, but retain it in the folder? If so, can someone tell me how to do it? It doesn't seem to work for me.

Instead of copying it from the gallery to a folder "move" the photo instead. Then you will end up with only one file keeping your storage to a minimum.
