In the last few weeks, Samsung updated the OS to the Frame TV and a function that I regularly used is no longer available. I'm writing in hope that someone can suggest a workaround (or if Samsung engineers read this, to bring the function back).

I have an Apple TV 4K media streamer for my Frame 55" 2022 TV. I'm assuming that other media streamers such as Chromecast, Roku, etc. would have a similar behavior that I am getting now post-OS update.

Prior to the update, I would be watching TV using the Apple TV 4K steamer, conclude for the evening, power off the streamer with the Siri remote, and the Frame would instantly go into the Art Mode and display artwork for 30 minutes (my settings) before the Frame would go to sleep. Post upgrade, I power off the streamer (Apple tells me the streamer goes to sleep, not powering off), but instead of the Frame displaying artwork, it is searching for a media source:

My only recourse now is to use the Samsung remote and manually navigate to the Art Mode and select the artwork, a multi-step process.

Is anyone else who is using a streamer experiencing this, and do you have a workaround?

Thanks,
David

I also am having this exact same issue. Everything was fine until the tv auto updated itself to the latest update. Extremely frustrating

One more voice... Frame 85" 2022 + AppleTV 4K 3rd Gen here.
Firmware 1520.7 broke everything, Samsung support blaming Apple of course. Even worse : tech guy told me it was made "on purpose" that TV switched back to DTV when no signal was detected from AppleTV. I spent 1 hour on the phone trying to explain the CEC principle etc... but the guy was so incompentent... Anyway.
I requested that he escalated the case to L3 support and/or dev team. He told me he would and he would call me back the following week. It's been almost 3 weeks and nobody called back obviously.
It's really a shame. It's the exact opposite of a good customer service (like Apple or Amazon for example, etc...). They are just incompetent and blame everyone else. They don't even know how their product should operate. Anyway... I'm pretty sure that at some point a fix will be released, and you'll see that it will fix the CEC issue and it won't even be mentioned on the change log, I can bet on that 😉

Exact same issue. How is this still going on!?

I solved the problem for me. Since it's been several months now and Samsung has not addressed or isn't going to fix this. I just turn the thing off. Problem solved. Yeah its an expensive mistake but I won't have to get frustrated putting it on art mode manually 10x a day. Can't wait to find a different alternative or when the next update comes out. That will either fix it or make it worse.

@Slapppy: The workaround is just to use the Samsung remote instead of any other to put the TV to Art Mode, and AppleTV remote (or equivalent) to switch it on and use your device. Art Mode works as designed doing this. But of course it's only a workaround.

Just running art mode and it exits on its own, sometimes 10 or more times a day. That the issue also.

Just adding myself to the list here. Same issue, tried all the workarounds and nothing works.

It has nothing to do with the AppleTV, the same happens when turning off my PS5.

would also like to include another source of frustration from a Frame owner to this list. It's quite frustrating that this update has disrupted the CEC functionality of the TV. Like many others, I use an Apple TV (ATV), and when it goes to sleep or I power it off, the Frame fails to handle the CEC trigger correctly. Instead, it switches over to Samsung TV+ and starts consuming data independently, which is unacceptable.

Now, I'm forced to disable Samsung TV+ to avoid this issue. Furthermore, the only way to activate art mode is by using the Samsung remote. Despite trying resets and tinkering with all available options, I have been unsuccessful in finding a proper workaround for this problem.

Happening here as well, this is absurd that we pay this much for a TV for it not to function properly, and how it worked just fine for years before an update from Samsung caused this issue. To have no response either is so frustrating.

Jumping on the bandwagon. Wish my TV would have never updated.

After turning off Bluey, my kids were treated to some horror movie on the Samsung TV app instead of art mode which had been working perfectly fine for over a year.

Really hope they fix whatever they did.
