QLED and The Frame TVs

In the last few weeks, Samsung updated the OS to the Frame TV and a function that I regularly used is no longer available. I'm writing in hope that someone can suggest a workaround (or if Samsung engineers read this, to bring the function back).

I have an Apple TV 4K media streamer for my Frame 55" 2022 TV. I'm assuming that other media streamers such as Chromecast, Roku, etc. would have a similar behavior that I am getting now post-OS update.

Prior to the update, I would be watching TV using the Apple TV 4K steamer, conclude for the evening, power off the streamer with the Siri remote, and the Frame would instantly go into the Art Mode and display artwork for 30 minutes (my settings) before the Frame would go to sleep. Post upgrade, I power off the streamer (Apple tells me the streamer goes to sleep, not powering off), but instead of the Frame displaying artwork, it is searching for a media source:

My only recourse now is to use the Samsung remote and manually navigate to the Art Mode and select the artwork, a multi-step process.

Is anyone else who is using a streamer experiencing this, and do you have a workaround?

Thanks,
David

Initially I thought it was apple’s fault, I thought they’d might off broken something over a software update. But i have some apple tv’s that haven’t been updated in a while and those don’t work neither. I even updated to the beta software and no luck, but now reading through this post it seems to be a samsung thing. Hope this gets fixed soon, they used to work perfectly.

Same issue. Apple tv 4k goes to the “no signal” screen on shutdown.

Just to add my name. My Frame TV updated to 1520 firmware today and now my Apple TV remote can’t switch the TV to Art Mode anymore. I’ve tried various fixes but none have worked. Basically the ability to use any external device to turn off the TV has been broken. Luckily I’ve held on to my old Harmony Elite and got that baby out as a stop gap but hopefully this gets fixed soon as there is no point equipping the TV with HDMI CEC if it doesn’t work.

I was hopeful this bug was fixed in the latest 1520 firmware update, but it's not. C'mon, Samsung - please get this fixed!

I submitted an error report on this issue through the SmartThings app. I suggest everyone do the same so they get how many people are upset by this bug. Just go to Menu > Contact Us > Error Reports

This is what I was looking for. Thank you! The more noise we can collectively make through their official customer service channels, the sooner this may be resolved.

Adding to this. I was hoping that 1520 would solve the issue, but looks like we are at least another 2 months away from a possible solution. What a shame.

If I toggle all of the settings, I can get one successful "sleep to art mode" via the Apple TV. Afterwards it goes to the antenna/Samsung TV (if it is activated).

This is certainly an issue with the CEC. Given it will work once, I think it likely has to do with how the TV is tracking the 'state' of the power toggle.

+1 for Samsung fixing this. A month ago I spent alot of time on the chat with Samsung for them to tell me that I need to use the remote... well thats not helpful for when my ATV just goes to sleep and leaves me with a blue screen instead of Art like I paid for.

I even started beta testing Apple's new TVOS 17 to see if new Apple software would fix this issue. No luck.  When I power off my AppleTV, Art Mode still does not appear and Im left with Samsung's select source blue screen.

I called Samsung today, explained the situation (including giving the agent the link to this thread) and I told the agent I would like to speak with a supervisor. While I never got the supervisor, the agent received approval to forward this issue up the chain to the engineers. I plan to follow up with the agent every few weeks checking on the status.

I also plan to post a review of the TV on Amazon (that is where I bought my TV last year) and that may have more an impact than tech support. I encourage all of you to do the same on your seller’s web page.
