Can't connect my cable with Samsung tv

Can I use my cable cord with the Samsung tv? Because I hooked it up, and it's not connecting at all.

Should be able to connect any cable that's allowed i.e hdmi or coaxial on the tv

What are you connecting to and from?

HDMI to HDMI? Use HDMI 1

Coaxial from cable box to TV? Most cable companies, in order to get a signal, you have to go from box to TV. This way, they make you pay for the rental of the box.
