Hi Everyone
update.
For months I have been chasing Samsung re: firmware updates, eventually I got hold of 2nd level support and a technician that actually knew something instead of giving me standard pre-canned responses.
I was using 1004 firmware and then upgraded to 1005, unfortunately there was not any improvement.
However, Samsung support gave me access to v1301...a big jump in version numbers and now this is on the support websites to download as a USB update. (I am not sure if it is available via auto updates as I had upgraded them all manually as at the time, the auto update process didn't have the new firmware).
I can say that this version 1301 has "improved" but unfortunately not eliminated the screen blanking issue. This is very disappointing, but that being said it is happening a lot less these days once I have upgraded to this firmware.
So if you are running on anything less than 1301 and have this issue, I suggest you upgrade to the new version. You won't regret it. I have contacted support again, to find out if they are still going to continue looking into this problem. [I have also indicated that I have another problem with the Settings - Number - Color button on the remote, and that my remote eventually stops responding to my monitor - oh well will have to wait for that to be fixed.]
Anyway back to the monitor problem. I only seem to have the problem with Display Port. (Don't matter what frequency as it still occurs - FYI I operate the monitor at 120Hz. But tried 60Hz and 240Hz and still same issues. However, if I use HDMI I don't have any issues at all. I am using a NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super; using G-Sync Compatible/Adaptive Sync.
I have this monitor (as well as a G6) connected to my main PC using Display Port and then a work PC connected via HDMI. I am mainly on HDMI during the day and have NEVER had the issue with HDMI on the G8. However, when using Display Port, the problem still exists. (BTW the G6 has never missed a beat - so if you only use one computer connected to the monitor I will suggest you change your cable to HDMI. But if you are like me that use two computers connected up, the one using Display Port will probably still have an issue.
Do other people still have this issue with the screen going randomly black for about 1-2 sec from time to time? What Frequency (Refresh Rate) are you using?
Thanks
Neal

Monitors and MemoryDear Danny,
Since you didn’t specify which type of LG monitor you switched to, what you wrote is completely irrelevant and meaningless, as there is no basis for comparison. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I do hope the skin on your finger grows back quickly after those two button presses. Regardless, I wish you all the best! Goodbye!

Monitors and Memoryit sure wasn't my nicest post, but image you just figuring out these issues have been going on for a while now and the end users having to chase Samsung their partners like NVIDIA to fix it. The best Samsung could have done is recall these screens untill they worked as advertised, or at least make a public statement regarding the ongoing efforts (by its end users) to resolve the problems.
Anyways, i went with the LG UltraGear OLED 32" and so far they have been fine. I wish you all the best and likewise, goodbye!

Monitors and MemoryGlad to hear you were able to return them.. The popups and this DP issue are totally crazy. I keep weighing selling my 3 monitors off and buying something else... The picture is great but everything else about these screens sucks.

Monitors and MemoryOh my God! Isn’t image quality what really matters? Where is the world heading if people can’t even press a single button anymore? Honestly, I don’t understand what your issue is with this. You turn on the PC and the monitor, and a few seconds later the menu disappears...

Monitors and MemoryI kindly ask you once again: please specify an exact LG model, not just a brand name! As it stands, what you’ve written is still unreliable… The way you describe it, “LG UltraGear OLED 32,” is far too vague and actually covers several different models. Many of my friends own LG monitors with that label, and they also encounter issues with the G-Sync + HDR combination.
Since the release of several newer NVIDIA drivers, my experience with this Samsung monitor has narrowed down to just a single issue: a brief 1–2 second black screen that appears a few minutes after the very first PC startup. Other than that, it runs flawlessly at 240 Hz with my RTX 5080. My friends report the same thing with different monitor brands and PC peripherals. In fact, there are fewer and fewer negative comments about this problem on the NVIDIA forums as well.
So, once again, let me stress that this is not a monitor defect, but an NVIDIA driver issue — and those drivers have been steadily improving. I didn’t intend to go into so much detail, but your uninformed comments forced me to, because I don’t want others to be misled by your lack of knowledge.
All the best to you as well!

Monitors and Memory"I didn’t intend to go into so much detail, but your uninformed comments forced me to, because I don’t want others to be misled by your lack of knowledge."
i'm sharing my experience with these screens like you have been the past months, and its clear you tried everything you could to get it to work without success, even got a bit frustrated yourself. You do indeed sound pretty arogant like you suggested, never the less you leave nothing for me to measure that knowlegde of yours. Also you are just another person stuck on a forum with a monitor not working as advertised. nothing more, nothing less 😉
Anyways, i keep eye out here to see how "details" work out in the end for you from my "LG UltraGear OLED 32GS95UV-B 31.5" 4K UHD gaming monitor"
As always, all the best!
