Hi Everyone
update.
For months I have been chasing Samsung re: firmware updates, eventually I got hold of 2nd level support and a technician that actually knew something instead of giving me standard pre-canned responses.
I was using 1004 firmware and then upgraded to 1005, unfortunately there was not any improvement.
However, Samsung support gave me access to v1301...a big jump in version numbers and now this is on the support websites to download as a USB update. (I am not sure if it is available via auto updates as I had upgraded them all manually as at the time, the auto update process didn't have the new firmware).
I can say that this version 1301 has "improved" but unfortunately not eliminated the screen blanking issue. This is very disappointing, but that being said it is happening a lot less these days once I have upgraded to this firmware.
So if you are running on anything less than 1301 and have this issue, I suggest you upgrade to the new version. You won't regret it. I have contacted support again, to find out if they are still going to continue looking into this problem. [I have also indicated that I have another problem with the Settings - Number - Color button on the remote, and that my remote eventually stops responding to my monitor - oh well will have to wait for that to be fixed.]
Anyway back to the monitor problem. I only seem to have the problem with Display Port. (Don't matter what frequency as it still occurs - FYI I operate the monitor at 120Hz. But tried 60Hz and 240Hz and still same issues. However, if I use HDMI I don't have any issues at all. I am using a NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super; using G-Sync Compatible/Adaptive Sync.
I have this monitor (as well as a G6) connected to my main PC using Display Port and then a work PC connected via HDMI. I am mainly on HDMI during the day and have NEVER had the issue with HDMI on the G8. However, when using Display Port, the problem still exists. (BTW the G6 has never missed a beat - so if you only use one computer connected to the monitor I will suggest you change your cable to HDMI. But if you are like me that use two computers connected up, the one using Display Port will probably still have an issue.
Do other people still have this issue with the screen going randomly black for about 1-2 sec from time to time? What Frequency (Refresh Rate) are you using?
Thanks
Neal

Monitors and MemoryHey everyone!
I still donāt want to jump to conclusions, but in my setup, everything seems to be working fine with the monitor so far.
On Friday, I tested for 2.5 hours, and today (Saturday), Iāve been testing for 3.5 hours without noticing any issues. I donāt use HDR (personal preference), and G-Sync is still enabled.
Iāve tested 4 games, YouTube, browsing, etc., and things seem to be improving. However, Iām still hoping for those future Nvidia drivers that could bring further performance optimizations, and I also hope Samsung continues refining their firmware to keep up.
Honestly, Iād really love to fully enjoy my hardware now, rather than constantly troubleshooting. It reminds me of the past Intel 13th and 14th-gen CPU issues, and now weāre going through a similar process with Samsungās G80SD and Nvidia drivers.
I love the PC world, and I appreciate all the efforts made by manufacturers, but I hope they will continue to fine-tune their products to provide the best experience possible.
Iāll keep following the forum and look forward to any updates from NealMCDealās connections! If I notice anything new, Iāll let you know.
Have a great weekend! š

Monitors and MemoryThat's amazing news. I'm on 572.75 myself right now, and its a brand new monitor. I didn't update to the latest version yet because I am experimenting to see if I am getting any of these black screens.
Using DP, I had screen flickering (pixelated) when I turned on Dynamic refresh rate. And the screen would go black for a second if I alt tab out of a full screen game. But other than that, I have not had a random black screen during DP use yet.
Not sure what to make of that, I think the mentioned issues above are unrelated and the one for alt tabbing in a full screen game is because of DSC.

Monitors and MemoryI definitely recommend trying the latest Nvidia driver after properly using DDU.
Yesterday, I used my PC for 6 hours under all conditions, and I still havenāt experienced any issues

Monitors and MemoryThat is great news. What is your setup again, 4070? I am guessing you only have a Single monitor setup?
I am using HDR and have G-Sync. I think the stability of this latest driver from Nvidia has improved things a lot. But I still get the black screen occasionally, but instead maybe get a very quick flash. So something has definitely changed. I will still keep an eye on it. I have not had much time this weekend to looking into things.
As for me using the monitor for work using HDMI, not a single problem to report at all.
I didn't do a safe mode DDU uninstall for Nvidia drivers. Maybe I will do that this weekend and see how it goes after that.
Yaari, how is your setup going? Have you experienced any issues with your 50x RTX? Do you have a single or dual monitor setup?

Monitors and MemorySo far so good but I do have the timed ones you spoke of before. But I am not on the latest version yet, I was first testing if maybe hardware difference made a difference. It appears that is not the case then.
Also I've bought a universal remote to program the power button with a few back presses to have the pop-ups disappear faster. An example of that can be seen here; https://imgur.com/a/XzKuWTl
I currently do not want to do anything in my service menu

yesterday in
Monitors and MemoryHi everyone!
Sorry for not responding earlier, Iāve been quite busy.
To answer NealMcDealāyes, Iām using a single monitor, and I have an RTX 5080.
Unfortunately, I had a bad experience yesterday:
I'm still on Nvidia driver 572.83, but the Nvidia App!!! updated to 11.0.3.218, and right after the update, I got a brief black screen flash. The worst part? Later, during a game, I got a long black screen, and my PC restarted...
I've read about this issue on the Nvidia forumāitās affecting a lot of people. Some users even experience complete system freezes instead of restarts. Many have found that the only way to avoid this is by not installing the Nvidia App!!! and only using the driver.
As for my own experienceāafter the automatic restart, someone suggested turning G-Sync off and back on, and since then, I havenāt had any issues again.
Iāll keep testing today, but at this rateā¦ this will never end! š
