There is a very faint grayish thing under the screen of my monitor. It is not sharp or black. it looks like light gray on all colors. It is sometimes even hard to find where it is. Need to look very carefully to find it. So what can this be :

You must have super vision to see anything behind the matrix, let alone from across a room.  I do not see anything other than the matrix and the circles you drew around your anomaly.

But if you really look carefully into the circle I drew , you can see a tiny bit off unmatching pixel in terms of color.

Now I also put an arrow. Look at the tip of the arrow where it ends I showed you the small dot or color difference etc.

I never in a million years would have spotted that, let aline grom across the room. It could be a dead or dying pixel. Unlikely it would be dust behind the screen. If it's under warrany, have it evaluated.

I searched the net and people have similar issues but comments are that is not a dead pixel:

Stuck or Dead pixel? I can't seem to find info on grey pixels : r/Monitors

Because they say dead pixels should be sharper and bolder. Not so faint. As you said very very hard to recognize it 😉

Even chatgpt says it can be kind of dust or stain inside. I prefer dust or stain to dead pixel 😉

Either way, dust or stain would have to be cleaned by removing the screen, if it's behind the screen.  If it's only a minor annoyance, you can ignore it.  If it's in such a place on your screen that it's in the center of what you are doing, I can see it being an annoyance, but certainly nothing worthy of rushing out to get it repaired or replacing the monitor - unless it spreads. What happens if you use a wallpaper, will it cause it to be less obvious to you?

It can't be even seen unless you search for it  ;)) It is so small and faint that hard to see and it is on the top left corner which makes it even harder to find =))  But to make myself peace of mind just wanted to know what it looks like to you guys 😉 but many people says it can't be a dead or stuck pixel because of the way it looks. It seems to be a bit of dust or stain etc ( they say )

So, you are borrowing trouble by finely inspecting your monitor.  Or did you just happen to spot it when glancing at that part of the screen?  My advice would be to just try to "unsee" it or ignore it, unless it starts to spread.
