LED and OLED TVsI am having an issue with my S90DD and a universal remote and a cable STB remote. I need the cable STB remote to control the TV volume.
I think the new QN55S90DDFXZA is blocking the setup of these remotes and not allowing the TV function to work on the remotes.
I have tried many universal remote Samsung codes and Samsung cable STB codes.
I tried the universal remote and Cable STB remote and found that both remotes work to control the volume with a Samsung UN60JS7000F and also the universal will work the functions of the TV with any of the three remote manufacturer supplied setup codes.
Both of these remotes do work and control the UN60JS Samsung TV. My problem is these remotes are not working with the Samsung S90DD.
The Samsung remote works just fine with the S90DD but has this remote has limited use for the cable STB.
Anyone able to connect a universal remote or cable STB to work the TV functions with the S90?
Is there a special setting in the S90 to allow the use of a non-Samsung brand universal remote?
What code worked?

LED and OLED TVsTried these codes with universal remote - some were a duplicate of codes I tried from 100 codes I have found online. None worked with TV functions of the S90DD.
The universal remote works perfectly with the Samsung UN60JS as a TV remote (and also as a cable STB remote). Those codes were 5791, 5801, & 3301 for setup on a Samsung TV UN60JS.
Thanks for the info and help. I am exploring more fixes. If you can offer anything more. Post here please.

LED and OLED TVsTried these 4 digit codes with the Universal remote (4 digit code set up) - some were the same as the 100 I found on the internet. The new ones did not work. S90DD is locked to only letting the Samsung remote control any functions need.

LED and OLED TVsScrewy things on this board - had a verification failure and replied to the wrong message.
Same with the five digit codes - had some, some new - none worked to free the simple TV functions for use with a cable STB remote.

LED and OLED TVsSamsung tech support is telling me the the S90DD with one supplied remote is bluetooth only.
Do you know if that is true?
But then why can I partially connect to S90DD TV to get that black box for volume with white bars and the white bars move if the TV is unable to read Infrared?

LED and OLED TVs1. Check HDMI-CEC (Anynet+ Settings)
HDMI-CEC (also called Anynet+) allows your TV to control external devices connected via HDMI, including adjusting the volume.
To ensure that HDMI-CEC is enabled:
1. Go to Settings on your Samsung S90DD.
2. Select General.
3. Scroll down to External Device Manager.
4. Select Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) and ensure it is turned on.
This should allow your TV to communicate with other devices, such as your cable STB, via the HDMI connection.
2. Programming the Universal Remote
You can try these methods to program your universal remote for controlling volume and TV functions:
Method 1: Auto-Search Setup for Samsung TV
1. Turn on your TV and universal remote.
2. Press and hold the TV button on the universal remote until it stays lit.
3. Press and release the Power button (the TV button will stay lit).
4. Press and release the Play button. The universal remote will search automatically for a working code. It should stop searching once a code is found.
5. Once the search stops, press the TV button again to save the code.
Method 2: Manual Code Entry
Try entering the Samsung TV remote codes manually. Some common Samsung codes include:
0101
0060
0111
0154
You can also check the universal remote's manual or online for additional codes specifically for your remote.
3. Programming the Cable STB Remote for TV Volume Control
Depending on your cable STB remote, you might need to set it to control the TV volume specifically, rather than the STB itself.
1. Turn on your TV.
2. Press and hold the "TV" button on the STB remote until it stays lit.
3. Press and release the "Power" button (the TV button will remain lit).
4. Press and release the "Volume Up" button repeatedly until your TV's volume starts adjusting.
5. When the volume starts working, press and release the Enter button to save the code.
4. Check for Remote Control Settings in the S90DD TV
Some Samsung TVs, like the QN55S90DD, have settings that might block certain remotes from controlling TV functions (like volume).
Go to Settings > General > External Device Manager and look for Device Connect Settings.
Ensure that options such as Universal Remote Control are enabled for third-party remotes.
5. Troubleshooting
If the TV is blocking third-party remotes, ensure that the Samsung Smart Remote is not active and taking precedence over the universal remotes.
Double-check if the cable box (STB) is connected via HDMI-CEC and has the correct settings for volume control.
6. Resetting the TV Remote Settings
You can try resetting the TV remote settings in the Samsung S90DD to ensure it works properly with non-Samsung remotes.
1. Go to Settings.
2. Select General > External Device Manager > Universal Remote Setup.
3. If a code or remotes have been set up, you can reset them from this menu.
Final Steps:
If the remotes still do not work, I would recommend contacting Samsung support to verify if there's a firmware or setting specific to the S90DD model that could be blocking the use of non-Samsung remotes. There may be a software update or hidden setting that needs to be adjusted to allow universal remotes to function properly.
Let me know if any of these steps resolve the issue, or if you'd like further help!

LED and OLED TVsHave performed everything you have suggested with no success. Bottom line is this response from Samsung tech = " S90DD is a latest 2024 model TV and it works only with Bluetooth remote controls. "
Sadly IR remotes are not an option.
Now my proble is that some Bluetooth remotes are able to connect to "Classic Bluetooth" devices while others only connect to Bluetooth LE devices. Some devices can connect to both.
Bluetooth remote Sofabaton Model U2 supports Bluetooth LE devices only and does not support classic Bluetooth devices.
Next search is going to be if the S90DD is a Classic Bluetooth or Bluetooth LE device.
Any help in that area is appreciated.
