I previously purchased several SmartThings plugs to control lights and appliances in my home.  I wanted to purchase another and noticed plugs from Samsung are no longer available.   I have tried two different plugs from Amazon and one failed to hold onto the network and the other required that I load a separate app and then try to connect to my SmarthThings hub.  It wouldnā€™t pair.  Iā€™m not a computer engineer and am frustrated that this is so challenging.  Why wouldnā€™t Samsung sell a product that is integral to their SmartThings systems?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you attempting to connect the devices via a 2G or 5G wi-fi connection? I have found that most devices do better on 2G, which means swapping your phone over to 2G wifi during the connection process using the SmartThings app, then back to thr regular 5G connection for fast upload/download speeds on my phone when done.

I have multiple smart plugs in my home, none of them are Samsung.  I use TP-Link and they work perfectly fine with SmartThings. All of your smart plugs do not have to be the same brand, they only have to be compatible with smart things; and most do require their own app initially, you never really have to go into it again other than to set them up. You can find a list of supported devices in the SmartThings app and then make the appropriate purchases. Open SmartThings, tap the 3-line menu on the bottom right and then click the supported devices section. Also, As @Dan2023 mentioned, smart devices work best when connected to the 2.4gHz network, even if you have to unbridge your networks to create two separate networks.  I have found that the auto network selection of combined frequencies does not play nicely with smart devices.
