The last phone that was paired with my Active 2 Watch broke. The screen was shot and blacked out. Im now trying to connect the watch to my new phone but it wont let me back up the data to reset it.

When I initially open the Wearables app, I:
• choose my watch from the available device list
• confirm the pin code on both devices
• then the watch pulls up the section where im supposed to back up the data and then reset the watch for the new connection.
• I click 'Back up data' and it says "Check phone"...
but nothing is happening on my phone

I read somewhere i might have to disconnect it from the phone it was previously paired with, but how do i do that if the previous phone was damaged passed a usable point??
(I cant screen mirror it either, it was a Pixel. And for those that might not know, the option to screen cast/mirror was specifically disabled on those phones to promote their $170 docking station you need if you want to screen mirror.)

The support for all Tizen watches has been ended. They are dead.  They will no longer connect to your phone and not reconnect once they have been disconnected. By December 31, even connected watches will likely disconnect.  Anything below the watch 4 is unusable.  You can see the announcement by going to the discover page of the members app, hitting the megaphone icon on the top right and tapping the "notice of content support termination" dated 9/30.  Sorry, but it's time for an upgrade.

Weak, nothing wrong with the one i have. I always hated that about phones, stopping software updates to force users to update their devices. Its bs. If i wanted to get a new one, i would when it breaks or is damaged. 🙄 So stupid.

Since the operating system has been discontinued and content is no longer being created for it, you can consider it broken or damaged.  The Watch 2 is what, 10 years old now?  I'm surprised the battery is still good.  As for phones, even when they no longer are eligible for operating system updates, they will still work, and apps that don't require a higher Android version to run will still work.

Ten years is about the average life span of any electronic or electric device, but if a company discontinues an operating system and decides not to allocate resources to supporting it, that is the way business is done.

Well, the good news is that the WearOS watches will be in service softwarewise a lot longer, as WearOS is a Google product. Tizen was Samsung's own OS, but if you can't get developers to create content for your OS, it becomes unviable.

Buying a 1985 Camaro in 2025 doesn't change the fact that the car is 40 years old.
