Watch face goes dark when not looking

Just got the new watch ultra. I have a white/orange watch face set up. However, when I'm not looking at the watch, the watch face goes dark. I have the AOD on. Was wondering if there's a way to keep showing only the white/orange watch face at all times? Don't want it to switch to the dark theme when the wrist is not elevated. I have turned off low light mode but it's still showing the same thing

The AOD dims to help prevent screen burn in. This is a system setting, and there isn't a way to change this behavior.
