Galaxy WatchHad to go onto Google Wallet to find this out - but apparently Samsung decided to discontinue Samsung Pay on all older models of the Galaxy Watch. It's grandfathered on older devices AS LONG AS YOU DON'T RESET the watch or transfer it to a new phone. Problem is I have a Motorola Razr - for some reason Wallet is not supported on this device either. So now none of my watches will work with my phone. This is after the Watch 7 Ultra (and all older watches) kept having to be reset for months this year.
I used to be exclusive to Samsung - but I now see that's a joke. Sending my new Watch 8 back....I actually use Samsung Pay. Samsung - you really are ridiculous in how you treat your loyal customers.

Galaxy WatchHow can you say that you were exclusive to Samsung, when you have a Motorola phone? If you want to use Samsung exclusive products (Samsung Wallet), you have to have Samsung devices. They did not discontinue the wallet on older watches, just the way it works with non Samsung devices. You can still use Google wallet on the watch and phone.

Galaxy WatchBecause I have a museum of old Flip, "S", etc phones, tablets, Chromebooks, laptops, tvs etc. Don't be flippant. But they changed it up midstream and it sux. Just like when my three watches earlier this year kept needing to be reset but instead of come clean they had me send them away for bogus repairs (thankfully they were under warranty) only to release a patch later that secretly and magically fixed them all. Or when my 3 yo was having known resolution issues and they told me it was unfixable and only offered to sell me a new TV for more than I could get it at Best Buy. I subsequently fixed the tv myself using a YouTube video. To say their "customer care" is lacking these days is an understatement.
Btw - your second post is helpful. Truly. At least I understand what the deal is and didn't have to go to a Google forum to find it. So thanks for that. .

Galaxy WatchThe only Samsung app I'm aware of that can be installed on non-Samsung devices is the browser.

Galaxy WatchThe watch plug in for Samsung pay used to work on non-Samsung phones. They changed the way you add cards to the wallet, and the wallet will not work on non-Samsung phones. You used to have to add the cards to the watch from the plug in on the phone, separately from the cards on the phone app. Now, you have to add all your cards to the Wallet app on the phone (which will not work on non-Samsung phones), and then import them to the watch version of the app.
I know this because my first watch was paired to a non-Samsung phone and I could use Samsung Pay (when it was Samsung Pay) on the watch, but could not use the wallet on the phone, as only the plug-in for adding the cards was functional on the phone. It's the whole reason I bought the first watch. Even though I now have a Samsung phone, I still use the watch, as it's more convenient than dragging my phone out to pay, when all I have to do is press a button and turn my wrist.

Galaxy WatchThey weren't Samsung exclusive until this month. No notice allowed me to break what I actually liked using. They did the same thing to S-Note..which I loved.

Galaxy WatchWhatever. I still use tons of other Samsung products and have a closet full of old models The attempted irony in your comment is juvenile. I'm forced to use Google when I liked using Samsung pay on my watch. Now the button is useless because you can't map it to the pay button that's why.
