I do not understand why this feature was removed and it is driving me up the wall. I would prefer not to have my screen off to get notifications on my watch, but I would also prefer not to have both my phone AND my watch make a notification sound if I'm wearing my watch. I see that the option to mute notifications on the phone is there if I use the search tool in the watch settings, but it actively does not work if the watch is set to "always show on both." And doesn't work at all no matter what notification setting I have on. Please bring this feature back. The ONLY alternative I've found to alleviate this problem until the setting is brought back is to leave "always show on both" on, but unsync do not disturb settings, so my phone is on do not disturb, while my watch is not. Which is a fine solution, but an irritating one since this wouldn't have had to have been done if the mute option hadn't been removed.

Not removed, the wording and structure was changed.  The setting is now a choice between always showing on both, or intelligent selection (or whatever wording is used, I don't have the update yet).  With the intelligent selection, the notifications will go to the watch only, if you are wearing it and it's connected.  If you want the notifications to always show on both, but not make a sound on the phone when connected to your watch, you can create a routine like so:  A little warning, though, the sounds may still be muted on the phone even if the watch is off your wrist but still connected, so you may either have to disconnect the watch in that instance or disable the routine.

I think I might've found an alternative solution with your assistance. Instead of setting it to Bluetooth, I set it to watch wearing status. That helped greatly, thank you 🙂

Glad you found another option in the routine.  I did not know that was an option because, frankly, I never looked for it.

You can send feedback to express disappointment in the decision to change the options, but there's no telling if it would ever be acted on.  https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692

Personally, I like my notifications to appear on both the watch and the phone, but only make sounds on the phone.  So I have all the sounds muted on my watch and only get the vibrations.  But, that's my personal preference. I understand other people have other preferences.
