One UI 8 Update is a Downgrade

After turning off auto updates, and continually dismissing the One UI updates notification to my phone, when I charged my watch this morning it decided to update itself for me. I am extremely disappointed in this update. Samsung continues to find ways to take the character out of their products, replacing any intentional design choices with confusing bulky padding and waste. The beauty of the Galaxy watch is in the circle display, with a rotating bezel. This update, Samsung has decided to use oval shaped cards on a round screen. Taking fitness tracking bars that used to hug the rounded edges, with large information covering the screen and hiding it all into a small tile for seemingly no reason.

I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way, I have been looking for ways to roll back this software update but have not found a way yet. Does anyone know how to roll back this update?

Whoever developed One UI 8.0 Watch seems to be in their 20s and completely unaware of users beyond their 50s. Small fonts do not make a product fancy or appealing—they make it harder to use. Samsung is cramming more information into an already small screen, and for what reason?

The original design was clear, readable, and practical. Why not let end users decide whether they want the new oval-shaped layout or the original full-screen design? Giving users a choice should not be difficult.

This update does not improve the user experience. It feels like decisions were made in isolation, without considering real-world usability. That’s disappointing.

P2rchan,

I am with you 100%. Samsung has been placing more restrictions on the the user. I have been using Samsung devices since the Note 3 and loved the experience of being able to customize my phone all through the note 8. I had full control. I was able to unlock my bootloader get superuser root access. unload any unwanted bloatware, and use the xposed framework to add the modules I wanted (not what Samsung pushed). That all changed with the note 10. Samsung locked down the bootloader in the US (Snapdragon chip) and all the freedom that I enjoyed was gone. Now I am having similar experiences with my watch 7. I want to track Vascular load, but I have to get a Samsung 8 Ultra. On one of the forums, I believe someone mentioned that the Samsung watch 7 has the sensor capacity to track Vascular load, but Samsung locked it down. I would not put it pass them. Samsung can unlockthe bootloader on the note 10 or the 24 Ultra, but they will not. At this point it is clear that Samsung wants to have full control of the user experience. I think it is time for me to consider another brand. Google may be the best option. Last I checked, they were not oppose to customization. Like you, Apple is not an option, since my struggle with getting them to release my ITunes music purchase license; way too regulated for me. Such a hypocrisy how this companies are always promoting
less regulation, but the consumer is regulated in every aspect of their life.

That reply was actually for the sentiments on the entire forum. We do have some control, and that is our purchasing power, we pay their salaries with our purchases.

If any one could help: I am signed in to my member account. Why is Samsung not posting with my user name?

Samsung does not  use your account user name in this forum.  If you do not choose a username for the forum, one is randomly assigned to you.  You can go to your settings and change it to your user name if you prefer - or any other name or nickname you prefer.
