Galaxy WatchAs for quick, glance-able info, I find watch faces with complications far more efficient than tiles. Rather than scrolling through multiple pages, tapping the complication opens directly to a full screen view. Ultra Info Board is my go-to for this purpose.

Galaxy WatchYou still have to scroll to a tile, so there is no "glancing at your watch" for information. As long as you still have to scroll to the tile, it's not a big inconvenience to tap a widget for extended information. The important stuff shows at a glance. For information while just glancing at your watch, I'm with @CEParsons , just choose a customizable watch face with as many or as few complications as you need and add the complications for one glance information.
I rather like that I can use the smaller widgets stacked on a tile to reduce my tile count, and thus the endless scrolling to get to the tile I want. It was a waste of space to fill up a tile with all the info detail of a single function.
