Galaxy Watch series devices: Sleep Tracking Issue with latency and deep sleep not recording

I've tried searching for this but all I could find is that the sleep tracking is fixed on the new watches. Not in my case though.

I have an S24 Ultra (not sure if that even matters) and the new Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.

On May 30th, I updated the Samsung Health app on my old Galaxy Watch 7. Since then my sleep has not recorded right. I experience gaps and the sleep tracking ends before I'm awake.

It seems like this wouldn't be a hardware issue since it started on my Watch 7 and has continued to the Watch 8, but here's a list of things I've tried:
- Cleared cache for all health apps on both the phone and watch
- Factory reset on Watch 8 (twice)
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Samsung Heath on both the phone and watch
- Turned on then off any battery/power saving modes (also set apps to "unrestricted")
- Set heart rate to measure constantly
- Turning sleep mode on both manually and using a schedule

Tech support said I may have to send the watch in for repair, but I've had it for less than 2 weeks so that seems ridiculous. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've included screenshots of what I'm seeing along with the clear decline after 5/30:

Hello Samsung Community . . . I've been in the boat with many of you and our crappy sleep scores since May 30th and the introduction of Sleep Latency. But . . .on November 2nd, my ring recoded Sleep Cycles vs Sleep Latency. Did anyone else notice this change on their watch or ring? Oh, did I also mention my sleep score was in the high 60s vs the mid-teens.

Mine still shows Latency. And oddly enough, the night before last my sleep score was 95 despite my dog waking me up in the middle of the night and me having to clean bedding and not being able to fall back to sleep. Last night though? Slept pretty much the whole night... Sleep score was 32. It just decided to stop recording my sleep from 2:20-6:00 when I got up.

Well last night, Nov 3rd I went back to sleep latency and a sleep score of 17 vs 68 the night before. Either we're all crazy, Samsung is messing with us, or they are actually testing software patches to determine a fix for the problem. . . ๐Ÿคž

I figured since there was an update to Samsung Health they might've fixed something with the sleep tracking but it doesn't appear so. Still getting a giant gap in pretty much every sleep record.1763304902229.jpg

Hello I recently just switched from Apple, so I'm still learning, I have worn my watch to bed for 4 nights now and only twice it has tracked sleep, on the first and third night. I checked every night it's not in low power mode or DND mode and they haven't been on. That was the main reason I bought the watch and I'm not sure how to fix it or if it's a bug. Any advice?

Is your watch tight enough?  It should be snug with little to no movement on your wrist, but not too tight to be uncomfortable. It should be positioned directly above your wrist joint. Do you put it in sleep mode when you go to bed?  Putting it in sleep mode locks the screen to keep it from waking unless the button is pushed.  It turns off tap to wake and raise wrist to wake so movement doesn't disturb the sleep tracking.  Too much screen waking may convince the watch you are awake. You should also have adequate battery life left - at least 30% in order for the sensors to work properly.

All the other things I've done, but it was on always on mode, and I didn't put it on sleep mode. I'll try those things, thank you!

Samsung stop suggesting end users are not wearing our devices correctly, or they need to be reset. The sleep tracking issues have been ongoing since May 30th, and y'all know it. I'm on multiple post highlighting this issue and have been working with the Samsung Health Monitoring group since June, and Samsung still does not have a fix for the issue. And just to highlight the ongoing issue, here are some screenshots from November 23rd showing the difference between my Fitbit Charge 6 and my Samsung Ring. Seems the Two Year old Fitbit provides better data vs my family of Samsung devices (Ultra Watch & Ring). Sad, Very Sad!1763907209422.jpg1763907209442.jpg1763907209463.jpg

I have no issue whatsoever with sleep tracking using my watch.  If you are having issues, please put in an error report, preferably within 15 minutes of waking up.  And, FYI, it's basic troubleshooting procedure to first determine if wearing the device improperly could be the issue. After that, other things need to be examined.
