Hello and Happy New Year.

Does anyone know if there is a way to calibrate or change the step stride length on Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and if so, would you please post it?

Thanks in advance!

When running on a treadmill the distance on the watch compared to the running machine is out by around 25%. The watch assumes a much smaller stride. I'm 6 ft.

Others recommended to complete some street runs so the watch can recalibrate the stride length. I did this, but it failed to resolve the problem. The watch still believes my stride length on a treadmill is far less than road running which makes no sense.

It gives me a chance to correct the distance after each activity, but many stats do not correct themselves like average pace etc. Nothing is even close to the average and maximum pace I'm actually running which is incredible frustrating. It pretty well makes the science and role of the tracker pointless.

I am 6'4" , so im on the higher end of height averages, but not enough to stand out as as an anomoly lol.

When i go to the gym i notice my step counter is significantly lower when i do a mile on the treadmill.  I was wondering the same as well if there are advanced calibration options.  I know the average height of Korean and American Men is 5'8" to 5'9"  and 5'2-5'4" for women.   So id like to know what this algorhytm does for just the pedometer in general. Since GPS isnt a factor ( my activity is in the same place almost always at work or home/gym)

I would like a way to make sure my data is accurate because clearly that could be a 10-20% difference with stride.   I know step counters are an estimate in general depending on watch position and arm movement but if the option is there would like to know how to tweak it.

I am having a significant difference in the distance I run and that recorded on the watch.  The watch always UNDER-estimates by a large margin.  I ran 2 miles yesterday indoors and the watch recorded 0.86 miles.  Also when on the treadmill it is SO underestimated as to be useless.  Help!

The Samsung Tech People still have not yet figured out that not all of their customers have the same default stride length or can use the same default algorithm built into the watch. SS recently rolled out a UI 6 update and it added some fancy interface updates but as far as I can determine, neglected to include something as basic as adjustable stride length for their customers' benefit. You would think this would be a fairly simple adjustment they could make to the software or firmware. Garmin watches have this capability.

Similarly, I see a massive disparity with my treadmill activity. It records 2.8 km for a 4km run. I'm 6'. This is an inaccuracy of 30% which is not just useless, but a complete waste of time for bothering to record and evaluate. As the averages are not corrected and the stats for the speed of each kilometre is way out, virtually all of the results are meaningless which is incredibly disappointing for all my gym sessions.

I complete outdoor runs which are reasonably accurate, after allowing for some slight loss of coverage on most runs, but at least the averaging and the timing for each km is probably within 5% accuracy.

Why on earth does it not reconfigure automatically or allow a far better manual override so that all of the data is not completely useless.

The data must actually be incorrect for everyone who isn't an exact match to the height (re stride length) to the built in assumption. I don't remember fitbit and others being anything like so inaccurate.
