I use the amessage studio app from the play store, personal preference.

Smart switched from the S10 to the S25 with no issues, everything transferred.

The app worked on the S10 with no problem. I was able to have text notification sound separate from general notification. I've tried all settings suggested. When receiving text messages, it defaults to phone settings. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks

Have you turn on notification categories in settings?

To do this go to settings, notifications, scroll down to advanced features and make sure you toggle on Manage notification categories for apps. Then go back to the settings of the app you want to change the tones for.

I'm not sure if you're utilizing a third-party app specifically to have separate notification sounds, and I apologize if you're already aware of this, but you can natively set up separate general and text notification sounds, assign different text notification sounds and ringtones to individual contacts, and separate notification sounds for any app (Gmail, WhatsApp, Bluesky, etcetera). ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ””๐ŸŽถ Personally, I download all of my extra notifications, ringtones, and various alarms from the Zedge app, and they're automatically available along with the preinstalled notification/ringtones/alarm sounds. ๐Ÿ“ฒ๐ŸŽผโœจ

Again, if you were already aware of this and it is just a matter of personal preference, I apologize. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
