Is there a way to stop my phone from automatically connecting to a specific device? I don't want to unpair the device, I just don't want it to connect to my roommates car everytime she turns it on.

If you don't want to unpair the car, the only way to keep it from auto-connecting is to turn off BT.

That's what I had to do yesterday, but I also have a Galaxy Watch so turning off BT isn't the best option.

Why is this not a feature/ option? Being able to turn off auto connect for certain devices seems like a no brainer.

Really, this is quite basic and must have been there from the start.

Do you know ANY other phone that does this? That's the beauty and the purpose of BT, if you have paired devices, they connect when in proximity. No one is going to change this behavior for the six people in the world that don't want it.

That's dumb, you should be able to blacklist a connection

@tcm98  I don't know of any device where you can do that.  The easiest way is to turn off BT if you do not want it connecting - it only takes a second and no effort at all. Or on the receiving device, look for a setting to set priority connections, as I said below.

In the case of the BT connecting to a car, have your roommate set her BT device selection in the car's BT settings for her phone to be the primary device.  This way, as long as her phone enters the car first when the car is turned on, only her phone will connect.  if you borrow the car and she's not in it, your phone will connect, as hers will not be detected.  If you are riding together and you get in first and start the car while waiting for her, your phone will connect first and you will have to disconnect in order for hers to connect.

Thank you for the suggestion! I'm not sure her car has that option, it's a 2012 and the menus are a bit cumbersome. I'll have to investigate a bit further.

All cars should have that option, even if it's an early adopter of BT connectivity.  If one can't find the option - just make sure she enters the car first so her phone can connect first, or turn your BT off until her phone connects.
