Text message issue

 why do this pop up when I long hold on a single text messages instead option to delete it.  Thank you very much.

Because it's allowing you to add a reaction emoji. After Long-pressing a single text you can hit the trash can icon on the upper toolbar to delete it.

They expect the trash can to be on that tool bar.  I admit that I am one of those people, but I do look at the entire screen and was able to figure out all by myself where the trash can was.

The option to delete that message is at the top. Click on the trash can icon to delete the message.
