I don't even understand the absolute bias against Google messages.  And, you *can* change the color scheme for individual chats, albeit from a limited color palette choice.  I said once before, the archive function and the spam blocking is worth more than being able to categorize the texts or make the app look pretty.  Not to mention pairing it with your computer browser so you can read and respond to texts from your computer.

Yea, they have some muted colors for rcs, I swear I have to message at least 100 people a week for work and maybe 3 of them use rcs.

I find that the muted colors are for the SMS chats and the color scheme follows your phone's color palette (maybe mine are muted because it's pastels).  The RCS colors are bold, but limited - there's only six.

I don't believe they do, but, I'm not certain, so can't say. I change my themes and wallpaper colors all the time, but oy have a few I message in rcs and I just make it that dull wanna be purple. Lol. It really doesn't bother me, I'm typing away not looking at the color.. The one thing I do miss is changing the bubble color and the font color to see it better but, not really a big deal

This is what my Google Messages looks like with SMS & RCS.  The default color of the SMS is either lilac - your "wannabe purple" (which actually is in my phone's color palette), or the palette you chose for your phone's color scheme.  You can only select one of Google's six colors for RCS chats, and you can choose a different one for different chats.

OK, so I turned off dark mode. SMS bubbles are blue, same as when it's on dark. Rcs I chose purple. Changed the color pallet, it didn't change the SMS color. 1764378602796.jpg1764378602818.jpg

My theory on the default color was just guesswork. For a long time, when I didnt turn on the palette choice to use colors from my wallpaper, the default was blue. After, I turned on the palette option, it changed to lilac. My backup phone has a deep pink palette and thats ehat color the SMS is on that phone. The drfault pallette, if you don't choose your wallpaper colors is shades of blue and grey.
