I bought my Samsung a25 phone from Amazon, I also bought my watch8 from Amazon. Tried downloading the health monitor app and got the message service not available in your current location. Spoke to Samsung help chat and he said my phone was manufactured in South Africa and the app is not allowed there. Very bizarre. My phone is set for the us region and so is the watch.

You likely received an international version of the device. Assuming the device is within the return window, I would recommend initiating a return and purchasing a device appropriate for use in the US.

Yeah, you have to read the descriptions on Amazon very carefully.  it does not matter what region you set the watch and the phone to; if the phone or the watch is not a U.S. version, some things just won't work.  It actually should not matter where the phone or watch was manufactured, but where it's region locked for.  If it's not being manufactured for the market it's being made in, it should not be an issue.

Thank you for your replies. I am in the uk and it looks like I am stuck with the phone I have which is locked to another country. How that has happened is beyond me, why sell a phone in the uk which is locked to another country.

That is precisely why you have to read the Amazon descriptions carefully.  They are usually pretty good at identifying international models and what region they are locked to.  If you are within the return window, you can just return the phone and look for another one.
