I have the opportunity to buy both phones, however, I can get the S25 Ultra at a more competitive price, I have used both brands over long periods of time (I like both) my indecision is based on the price to pay, I can get the iPhone 17 Pro Max for $380 more than the Samsung S25 Ultra, which one should I buy? Thinking long term (5 or 6 years), I usually use the camera a lot for my work.

Galaxy S25If you can wait, I would wait for the S26U and see what that phone has to offer and then compare the S26U to the 17 Pro Max.
Samsung's trade-in program is very generous.

Galaxy S25How is the iPhone 17 Pro Max $380 more? I do not care for using Apple products for the primary reason of their are somewhat restrictive in allowing non-Apple peripherals to funciton completely with their phones (some android device brands are leaning that way too mostly because of Google), while also not allowing more customization. As far as the cameras go, the iPhone version holds the edge overall and this is from any reputable reviewer that twill tell you this.
Two phones, two prices as they use nearly the same hardware specs.
S25 Ultra 12g/256g model unlocked no trade-in, $1299
