Is this new in One UI 7?

When I get text notifications from multiple people they stack/group and displays the number to the right of the tile. And I need to click it for it to expand to see everything.

Remember on my s24 each text got their own tile.

I keep missing notifications from texts cause they are being grouped.

How can I disable this?

Dude if you like it then enjoy it, we would like the option to turn it off. That's the whole point of android phones. Take your whiny little attitude outside and go touch grass instead of belittling someone asking for a feature back they've always had. Loser

I routinely use the notifications bar as a reminder of things that have just happened and what I need to do. It is supposed to be quick and easy. Adding an extra click is extra work. Takes extra time. And the worst part of it is it hides information. I've already missed notifications for messages. Because they're all wrapped up in the group and I don't see them. I've already contacted and worked with Samsung technical support and there is nothing they can do to fix this. My WhatsApp messages are all grouped. I also use the notifications as reminders. It's like a informal to-do list. And when it's all wrapped up it's very difficult to see what's going on. I'm very disappointed in this update.

Use Good Lock's NotiStar module.  It ungroups messages and will keep them until you clear them away.  It can be used to view messages  on the lock screen or in the app. They will stay in the app and the lock screen even if you swipe them away in the notification panel.  Yes, you will have to make an extra swipe on the lock screen, but you will see all your notifications separated, and you can keep or delete whichever ones you want.

That's not a fix for notifications working the way they should, that's just a way to retrieve something you know you missed

Anything that solves your problem is a fix.

"...not a fix for notifications working the way they should...".  The way notifications *should* work is to actually send you a notification.  It does this.  The fact that you think it *should* work the way you are used to is a construct of your own. The software developer (Samsung) has every right to change the functionality, even if it's unpopular.  If they are smart, they will take note of the objections and change it back.  But, who knows what they will do.  In the meantime, get used to the extra tap to separate your notifications, or perhaps just go straight into your messaging app and see which message are new.

Oh thanks I just realized I do get notifications for all my apps. All I have to do is open every app individually, and it highlights the unread messages for me as I scroll through my conversation history. That was sarcastic, as I know it can be hard to tell online.

I don't mind Samsung changing defaults as long as they give us a clear and easy way to revert it for my communication apps. Grouping notifications does make a lot of sense for most apps I think. Samsung hasn't provided that option though, so I added my voice to this thread in the hopes that Samsung will see it.

The workaround posted above of turning a certain option on, then turning it off again, and it magically starts working -- that is not a clear and easy way to revert the behavior. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that magically stops working at any time.

Many of us enjoy Android for its customization culture, you've got advanced settings menus EVERYWHERE why on earth would such a major ergonomy shift be aggressively forced on users??

It reminds me of this awful tab grouping in Chrome, not being able to roll back to what you were used to is the absolute worst

I've been an exclusive Samsung user for the last 12 years, this behavior of mandatory ergonomic updates it quite recent and it makes me wonder where to go next. I'm even thinking of replacing my perfectly working phone now to get rid of this grouping nonsense

An extra click is not work.  It's not even a minor inconvenience.
