S25 Android Auto notifications (non text) not sounding

Recently upgraded to the S25 with AT&T. Android auto works normally for the most part, but non text notifications don't interrupt music to give audible alert the same way texts do. Worked normal on my old S22. The non text notifications do work normally if I connect to my car via Bluetooth instead of android auto, but then I can't use maps.

I've searched and already tried to some possible fixes, including making sure do not disturb is not on, checking app settings to make sure it's set to sound, trying to adjust volume right when the notification is occurring, toggling various sound settings on the phone, etc. I have "delta chat" to allow me to trigger notifications from my laptop for testing purposes, although it's happening the same with other apps.

Anyone have thoughts?

Go to settings on your Android Auto app, notifications. Make sure the apps you want are on.

On my phone, in settings, apps, android auto, notifications, everything is checked as allowed.

In settings, apps, android auto, configure in android auto, there are no settings I see to allow notifications from certain apps to be turned on.

There are no settings on the car android auto menu to allow certain app notifications to be turned on.

If there is something else I'm missing, can you be more specific?

I'm still interested in a direct solution. As a workaround, I was able to use the Macrodroid app to give an audible alert for various app notifications only when connected to Android Auto.
