If you enjoyed the customization of the Galaxy platform and Goodlock, prepared to have it ruined by the new and "improved" UI update. I've had Android and Galaxy devices for years because of the customization. And now the engineers forget that important fact about it's customers everytime they sacrifice a customization feature for AI that people don't use.

The gallery widget can no longer have transparent backgrounds. No matter what option you choose you png with a transparent background gets a white one. Ruined my whole home screen.

So I have to edit every image into my background so it can look like this? When this feature already existed in UI 7 because I was able to execute it in UI 7 with no issues? That's insanegogRZGTnMp.jpg

See my post below.  No editing involved, just change the widget display settings.  You obviously have it set for fit to widget, not center and fill.  Or, do as @haleighgrace suggested and make stickers out of them and add them as stickers, not widgets.  There is also the option of editing your wallpaper to include the png and then just swapping your wallpaper with your edited version.

And, OneUI8 is not OneUI 7 and with updates settings change and move, some adjustments may have to be made.

A png with no background will appear either black or white behind it in the gallery, likely depending on your mode (light or dark). Technically, the "background" should not show as the object is a standalone item and should automatically blend in on the background where it's placed.

When you open the widget setting, do have the option for display method and have chosen center and fill widget?  If you have "fit to widget" selected, you will get the white background.  Center and fill will fill the entire widget.

Yes. As made clear by this screenshot. But when I click "save" it shows up with a white background anyway on the homescreen. I'm going to use another user's suggestion and try stickers. 1758474778194.jpg

I have the same issue. Clearly it wasn't caught in regression testing and hopefully will get a patch at some point, but I did find a solution that worked for me! I tried all of the settings changes and nothing worked in the gallery widget. I ended up turning them into stickers and using Good Lock's Home Up to put the stickers on the home screen. If the images are simplistic enough, it should work okay!
