I traded a S24+ in Jan 2025, that I paid in full, for a S25U. This week I was told it failed bc it was banned, (provider didn't ban it), and a second denial today bc I didn't factory reset. Samsung claims they evaluate within 10 days. It's been 6 months. There was nothing to reduce the value of the phone. Hopefully they return my phone and not someone else's.

If they denied  the trade-in, you HAVE to use the option for Samsung to return the device. They will not do that of their own volition.

 

Per Samsung:

 

• What if Samsung determines that my device does not meet the minimum conditions or that my device is not an eligible device model for this promotion?

Samsung will evaluate your device when we receive it, and if we determine that it does not meet the conditions described above, or if it is a device that is not eligible for trade-in under this promotion, then Samsung will value it at $0. 

If Samsung determines the device does not meet the minimum conditions, you will have seven days to request your device to be sent back to the original shipping address on file, free of charge, by visiting the My Orders page.

If the trade-in gets denied after evaluation, you get your device returned to you. But you have to pay full price for what you bought.

IMO, that would be theft if the request for return was input by the customer and was not implemented by Samsung and Samsung kept the device.

If they denied  the trade-in, you HAVE to use the option for Samsung to return the device. They will not do that of their own volition.
