FB messenger rings in a middle of a phone call

Hi all,

I hope you can help me with this topic.

My last 2 galaxy phones (Galaxy S23 and S25) have the same issue, I tried to resolve it but I can't figure out what can be causing this.

Whenever when I am on a regular phone call, if someone calls me on Facebook Messenger the phone will actually start ringing with the super loud messenger ringtone, almost damaging my ears.

It wasn't always like that, it used to show me the pop up with call waiting and with the gentle sound that somebody is trying to call me. Unfortunately it doesn't do that, I tried to find what could be the issue in the settings but I couldn't find it.

Anyone knows what can be the issue?

Go to Settings > Apps > Tap the three-dot menu. Select Reset app preferences. Restart your phone and check if the issue persists. If none of these solutions work, it might be a Messenger app bug. Try updating Messenger or reporting the issue.

It didn't  work.

Everything  is up to date and this problem has been lasting for a while now.

By reporting the issue, did you mean to Samsung or to FB messenger app?

If none of the offered solutions work, try wiping your cache partition, although you did say this happened on previous phones. You can also change your FB messenger call ringtone to something softer and less jarring. To do this you have to make sure notification categories is turned on. Settings/notifications/advanced settings/manage notification categories for each app. Then go back to the app notification settings, tap the notification categories, find "incoming call" and change the sound and select the volume. You can also turn on do not disturb when you are on a phone call. Create a routine to start DND when you make or take a call. Make sure DND is configured to not allow Facebook Messenger calls, or not to allow any notifications.

I tried the above mentioned solutions. None of them worked

I did do a factory reset on my company phone the s23, and tried to install it without any sync to any of my other android samsung devices.

I assigned the phone permission to the messenger app and it actually helped. (however I haven't installed all the usual apps plus my work profile, I am suspecting maybe some other app on the phone could be affecting this issue)

However for some reason this solution doesn't work on my S25 Utra which is crazy 😄
