My email stopped at midnight, and is asking for my password reentry.

If email doesn't work how will they reset it?

If you have a mobile number on your account, or a recovery email, they will send it to that. Most email providers require you to have one or the other for recovery

Same issue. I verified my password is correct by logging directly on the website. Still nothing for the app

Some web mail providers now require you to use a separate one time app password to use certain third party mail readers.  Check if your provider is one of them.
