Why is the pocket detection so pathetic?

It happens 4-5 times a day that I pull out my phone and the fingerprint sensor has been blocked due to multiple failed attempts in my pants pocket! It's extremely annoying! I have kept Accidental touch protection on from the day I got the phone and it has almost never worked at pocket detection or stopping the fingerprint sensor from scanning inside my pocket.

I'm using S24+.

Does this happen to you too? What can I do to stop it?

Do you have AOD on? Do you have fingerprint always on?  I would take the AOD off or turn the off fingerprint always on (settings/security and privacy/biometrics), don't show the fingerprint on the AOD and just double tap or press the side button to open to the lock screen.  But, then again, I am one of those that don't believe phones belong in pockets.  This generally happens more with men, because a phone in a women's purse generally has its own separate pouch and doesn't get the same kind of jostling.  You can also wear looser pants.  Accidental touch protection can only do so much; if the phone senses what feels like a deliberate gesture, it will react accordingly.

Thin pockets potentially. Certain pants i have has thin pocket liners and when walking/running the screen gets tapped like a double tap gesture.

I honestly don't like it because of that reason everytime you put it in a pocket you have to do the same annoying task to unlock it plus it seens to never stay in my picket very long anyways. I just keep screen lock on when screen off and be done with it

I have never noticed this when it has been in my pants or even my shirt pocket. I was checking it out by covering the top portion of the phone and tapping away and it did error out the sensor and countdown timer to when I could try the sensor again. When it does work without error the screen turns off again after about 5 seconds.

There is one setting you could change that might stop this and that is to go into fingerprint setting and turn off "Fingerprint always on". The bad thing about this is you need to hit the power button, or if you use double tap for screen on, to turn on the screen to use the fingerprint sensor. It would be annoying to me though to have to do that.
