System UI notifications cannot be muted

Since the latest system ui update my phone chimes 3-4 times in the middle night with no visible notification.  When I look at notification history there are hundreds from System UI.  I have do not disturb on, I have all notifications silenced that can be.  I cannot silence my phone because I need to receive text and calls.  No matter what I do I cannot silence these notifiations.  Almost all the options to stop system ui notifications are greyed out and it has permission to override my do not disturb and it is also greyed out.  Any help would be appreciated.

I understand some people are having issues after the update with the charger connecting and disconnecting.  That may be what you were hearing.  The settings are greyed out because they are mandatory for the system for them to be on.  If you want to mute the sounds, you have to do it the way I said, through the volume panel or quick panel.  If you only want them muted while you sleep, you can use modes as well, which will automate the process if you set it to activate during a certain time period, i.e. your sleeping hours.  Then it will go right back to normal without your intervention.  Doing it manually, you would have to remember to turn the sounds back on.

Yes I did that and I hope it works.  I would argue though, it shouldn't be necessary for the System UI to notifiy me that I'm continuing to listen to media  in order for it to function properly. I never get the sound during the day and I use a wireless charger at night so that could be it for sure.  because based on the number of battery notifications there are that could be it.  Thanks for your help.

There's a lot of things they put in that shouldn't be necessary.  On one hand it seems like they are simplifying things for simpletons but at the same time making it very complicated and unintuitive.  Hey, I don't make the phones, but I'm good at finding workarounds, which I just consider part of the customizaton.

I just went in and checked and I plugged in my phone at 3:08.  From 3:08-3:32 System UI triggered 22 notifications for charging.  I bet that is the problem.  Thanks again.

I have the same issue with the system UI notifying me several times an hour during the night even with DND on. My system sounds are also turned off. I double checked. And the stupid notifications come through anyway. The only way I can get it to stop is to manually turn off all notification sounds. I have to press the volume key then turn it off which means I have to remember to turn it back on the next day or I miss all calls and texts.

Oh, and this happens even with sleep mode enabled.

It's beyond irritating. Idk if I've always gotten an insanely high number of UI notifications or if that's a new thing, but I don't like it.

And I'm not offer to complain about updates. I like them. I like them even better when they fix the parts they broke. 1749290679712.jpg

You seriously expect people to read that screen shot with that color scheme? Especially when a long screen shot cannot be enlarged too much.  We don't need to see every incident, it's only necessary to choose a section to screen shot with one or two incidents, and it's helpful for you to point to or circle the incident in question.  If you long press on a particular incident, you get an option to show events from that app, which will give you a list of times the events happened.  So, if you want people to give you an answer, please change to light mode or at least screen shot a smaller section of the screen and highlight the incident(s) in question.

If the only way you can turn off the sound is to turn off all sounds, then it's not a system sound, it's a notification sound.

Oops you're right. Lol. Sorry about the color. My niece was bored one day. I guess I got used to it because I don't even notice it anymore.

Every time I hear the notification at night, I immediately look to see where it came from. I can only find it in the notification history and it's always the system UI that gave me the last notification. I also thought muting system sounds would mute the notification, but that is not the case here. I have to turn off notifications for it to stop.

I don't think I'm missing anything but if I am I hope it will surface with conversation about it.

All I'm showing with the screen shot is the amount of System UI sends and the last notification at 241am said system UI. The screenshot notification didn't sound. No idea if that's very helpful or not.

OK.  I can see you are in your phone's notification history, this will not give you the complete details of the notification.  System UI is just a catchall (basically everything goes through the system UI) for the system doing something.  To see what the specific action is you will have to download Good Lock/Nice Catch from the Galaxy store and turn on sound history.  Once the sound history is on, the next time you hear that sound, you can tap "sound notification history" and see a list of all the sounds generated in the last 7 days (or since the app was activated if less than 7 days).  My screen shot above is from the Nice Catch module.  You can see that under the event, it shows exactly what the event was (voice call, ringtone <I guess that would be that the phone rang and I didn't answer it>.  That particular screen shot is from the detail view of the sound notification.  I described, in that post, how to arrive there.  When you open Nice Catch, you may see that there is an actual app attached to that sound rather than "SystemUI".  If you charge at night, your charger may be connecting and disconnecting and, thus, generating the sound.

In your notification history, (if you choose not to use Nice Catch) if you tap on the arrow next the "System UI - 145 notifications", it will expand to tell you what the system UI is doing.  You will have a more accurate read on what component of "system UI" is causing the sound with Nice Catch, though.

Oh cool. I saw the nice catch module in there the last time I was getting the camera assistant so I know what you're talking about.

I'll try that. Thank you

On your screenshot that shows your phone is charging, do you get a notification every minute that tells you how much time before it's charged? That would make me crazy.
