Ive been waiting for a good 3-ish months for this OneUI update, checking every day to see if I'm lucky, but to no avail. I have a Unlocked S24 Base model connected to assurance wireless, now I dont know if that has anything to do with the speed of the rollout for phones connected to this plan, but if anything I know, is that OneUI 8.5 is going to release before I even touch a pixel of OneUI 8, I am **bleep**.

Did you bring your phone over to Assurance Wireless or did you buy it from them?

Please share a screenshot of your about phone > software information screen (see attached pic).1762637157168.jpg

The model number indicates that it was a carrier-locked device at one time. Did you buy the phone directly from a carrier or from a third-party vendor?

The phone was not properly unlocked. You may be able to use a different SIM, but it still has the original carrier's firmware. The phone is looking for updates from that carrier's servers.

In order to get OTA updates, you need to have unlocked firmware flashed to the phone. If you're tech savvy, you can do this yourself with a computer tool called Odin.

If that's not something you want to attempt, you can take the phone to an authorized service center and have them flash the unlocked firmware. There will be a fee for this service. See this link to find a service center near you:

Can't even find a exact firmware with android 16 without risk of data wipe or instability, already seething in frustration right now

Flashing the firmware, whether you do it yourself or pay someone else to do it, will result in a data wipe. There's no way around that. It's just like imaging a computer. You're overwriting the OS with a clean copy. Data will not be preserved.

There may not be a One UI 8/Android 16 image available because it's too new. It's that's the case, best you can do is to flash the most recent One UI 7 image and OTA update to One UI 8.

Gotcha, now just to make sure I dont slip up now that I know the possibility of a data wipe is bound if I were to flash, just wondering if you could potentially search for a firmware thats atleast what you mentioned, latest of oneui 7 or oneui 8 itself, if not thats perfectly fine.
