I was not a fan of Samsung's older home launcher (circa "Galaxy Note 9"). Never really sampled One UI, since I'd taken to using Nova Launcher and was so used to it. To me, One UI looked cluttered when I received & initialized my S22 Ultra. But I have read plenty of kudos regarding its continued development over the last couple years.

Of course, I DO realize I could simply switch to One UI on my S24U and try it out for myself. But I'm curious whether there are folks who've used both and prefer One UI over Nova? If so, what "pros" (or potential "cons") would you say One UI has?

I've been using Nova Launcher (Before Apex) for years.

One UI Home can't hold a candle to Nova Launcher in customization.

Edit: I only switch to One UI when helping someone with a question.

The same, Nova Launcher, let's me use my whole screen. I just wish some of the Samsung widets would give me the settings of the widet, not all let me!

I totally agree about Nova's degree of customization. I'm also a fan of it's ability to make shortcuts to system attributes. To be honest, though, as I grow older I feel like I'm becoming less interested or concerned about these features (but still could be worth sticking to Nova and having them in my back pocket, assuming One UI doesn't offer anything that is tempting enough to switch away permanently).

I guess what I am wondering is whether One UI may offer some Samsung-specific nuggets & functions that you may not be able to get from Nova or other launchers? If so, it'd come down to me deciding whether they are more worthwhile than what Nova provides (maybe Nova CAN provide those same features but it takes extra steps, such that One UI is a better & easier choice).

I like a very simple layout and used a handful of launchers, including Nova, before settling on Microsoft Launcher for years. I recently tried One UI with Good Lock and was very impressed.

I saw Microsoft Launcher on a few friends' phones in the past. I did consider it briefly but ultimately stuck with Nova, which I considered "tried & true" by that point.

I've employed Good Lock & several of its spawned apps the past couple yrs and absolutely love it. Samsung worked towards an ideal by offering it so users could unlock & employ customizations of their own choosing.

Is there anything about the current One UI's base attributes that really appeals to you, where you're like "Microsoft Launcher was cool, but I love THIS about One UI on my Samsung phone?"

I really just want no app dock, no app labels on the home screen and the ability to swipe down to search. I like the fact that I can now do this with One UI without needing a third party launcher. 1736302593662.jpg
