Hi @jerseydude, thanks for pointing this out — you're not alone in seeing that AccuWeather sometimes doesn't update properly on the lock screen with One UI.
Here are a few possibilities and steps to try:
1. Background Data & Battery Optimization Samsung’s power management is very aggressive in One UI:
Go to Settings > Apps > AccuWeather > Battery
Make sure it's set to Unrestricted so the app can update in the background.
Then go to Settings > Apps > AccuWeather > Mobile Data, and toggle on Allow background data usage and Allow data while Data Saver is on.
2. Lock Screen Widgets Permissions AccuWeather relies on being allowed to refresh even when the phone is locked:
Go to Settings > Lock screen > Widgets, and make sure Weather is toggled on.
You might also want to disable "Skip lock screen updates" under Lock screen > Other lock screen settings.
3. AccuWeather Sync Setting Some AccuWeather builds require the in-app sync toggle:
Open AccuWeather > Tap the ☰ menu > Settings > Toggle on “Lock screen weather” or similar (depends on version).
4. Samsung Weather Conflict If Samsung Weather is still set as the default provider:
Go to Settings > Apps > Samsung Weather, and check whether it's clashing with your AccuWeather sync. Sometimes disabling updates for Samsung Weather helps AccuWeather take over.
5. One UI Widget Bug / Update Delay Some users on One UI 6.1 and 7 have seen widget update bugs after Doze mode kicks in. This is partly on Samsung to patch, but clearing cache may help:
Boot into Recovery Mode and Wipe Cache Partition.
Make sure Device care > Auto optimization isn’t killing the app too early.
6. Temporary Workaround Until fixed, you might want to:
Use Samsung Weather as the interim source.
Or install Weather & Clock Widget for Android as a temporary widget that updates more reliably.
---
Let’s hope Samsung polishes this integration — especially as weather data is something users count on at a glance. Let me know if any of the above works or if it’s still stuck after all this. We’re in this together — update by update.
