I'm looking to purchase an S24 Ultra and I see that I can purchase one refurbished from either Samsung, Amazon or Best Buy. My 1st thought is to go to Samsung as they should have the better refurbished item sir to it being their devices, but their price is almost $500 more than the other 2 sellers. I'm wondering if anyone has purchased a refurbished device from the other retailers and what are your thoughts on the matter. Also, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct area, so to the moderators I do apologize in advance.

The biggest problem with refurbished Samsung phones is them being sold as "unlocked" and people not being able to update them. If you buy a refurb, make sure it's a U1 (factory unlocked) model, so that you can use any SIM and get OTA firmware updates.

I typically buy my devices brand new and unlocked directly from Samsung when they come out. But since they got rid of the Bluetooth features on the S-Pen and I am a serious user of those feature I'm not ready to move on to the latest devices. That said, my main concern is the battery performance, as well as any glitches that may plague a refurbished device. Also, I just don't like the idea of paying pretty much full price for refurbished device. Which is what Samsung is offering.

Factory refurbished from Samsung usually means they nearly completely rebuild and test the phone, making sure it's completely carrier unlocked and FRP clear and the battery is good - hence the higher price tag for "used".  It's also why Samsung is very exacting in it's demands on trade-ins.

When I use to buy used devices I would get them on Swappa.

Of the 3 I would go with Best Buy and never with Amazon unless it clearly states factory unlocked.

No, they are not. The listing has to say factory unlocked. They all say Unlocked, that only means it's been paid off and it's a clean IMIE
